Technology

Motorcycle GPS or motorcycle apps are great tools to help you on your ride. In the options you can set the route to be specific to two-wheelers. Unlike the usual configuration for cars, the route is not calculated on the basis of speed but on the curvature of the route. So you’ll be really happy with the number of bends. There is also the option of planning a loop, which means that the starting point and the destination are the same. You just need to set either the distance or the duration.

Old maps

Would you like to do it the old-fashioned way? Unfold your road map on the living room table and you’re off. Maps contain a lot of information in a very visual way. If the road is shaped like a snake on your map, it’s sure to be worth your time. But there are many other things that can be spotted too: a scenic journey, a panorama, a dam... The list of things to look out for is endless. Riding the route you have planned will be great fun, but following it requires a little more experience. A tank bag will come in handy here. You can then consult your notes or your map easily.

With friends

If you’re still unsure how to get started, why not start with a club? You’ve spotted one of them that offers a lovely ride around lakes. Group outings have their advantages and rules:

  • support and guides that take care of the route and safety
  • lively stops with like-minded people who share the same enthusiasm for motorcycles in general or a particular brand
  • a reasonable riding pace, taking into account the level of the participants, especially beginners
