Whether by choice or by obligation, many people work in Brussels. Access and parking are not always easy. What are the hints, tips and rules for parking in the capital to avoid spending your day's profit on parking fees?
There are 5 types of parking zone in Brussels, in addition to special zones. Each zone has its own tariff and rules. Parking.brussels is equipped with scanning vehicles called scancars. They can check your parking easily and quickly impose a fine. However, there are some tools that will help you.
Rules to know
The blue areas where you should use your disc are controlled. It is no longer enough to turn your disc over every two hours because the scanners will locate you. You must therefore move your vehicle after the permitted time has elapsed.
For paid zones, various apps have been developed to make parking easier. There are several of them, but the principle is the same for them all. They provide the opportunity to pay parking fees in the municipalities of Ixelles, the City of Brussels, Anderlecht, Molenbeek, Jette, Evere, Scharbeek, Koekelberg and Forest. Agreements with other municipalities are in progress. You can also download applications such as: EasyPark, Yellowbrick or Seety. Once you have found a parking space, you log in, find where you are, and follow the payment instructions. The countdown will start instantly when you tell the application that you are leaving the location. It’s helpful to know that these apps do not allow you to benefit from the 15 minutes of free parking. If you set up a business account, it makes managing your expenses simpler, because you will receive an invoice by email.
If you are making a large delivery, moving house or working on a construction site, you must reserve a parking space. The procedure must be done in advance (minimum 5 days) with the local administration. The rates vary depending on the commune. Include this in your quotes or stipulate that this cost is to be paid by the customer.
For jobs that require a professional to be involved, it is possible to request a regional exemption card from Parking.brussels. Once you have completed the form with your information (including access to profession, ECB and VAT registration), you will still have to pay €90 per month fee.
Private car parks also provide a solution, even if they are not always accessible to commercial vehicles. Some offer daily or monthly reservations via platforms such as Oneparkor BePark.
